GO collaborative to present at 2013 TSA conference!
March 30, 2013
GO collaborative’s proposal to the 2013 Texas Society of Architects Annual Conference has been accepted!
Lynn Osgood and Sarah Gamble will be joined by Diane Miller, Principal at Civic Collaboration, and Larry Schooler, Community Engagement Consultant at the City of Austin, to provide 4 distinct perspectives on community engagement.
At pivotal points in the design process, community engagement provides Architects the opportunity to educate the public, build awareness for good design, and gather input. Architects have the opportunity to expand their influence and impact in the process as collaborators, designers, and leaders in their communities. This presentation will focus on four Texas-based case studies where community engagement was completed as part of the design and development process. The case studies will be presented by four panelists: architect, planner, dialogue expert, and city government staff, to showcase successes in community engagement and its contribution to good design from four distinct perspectives. The role of the architect, or absence of, will be highlighted in each, along with techniques utilized and typical struggles in the community engagement process. Presenters will point out resources for further study and continuing education.
Join us for the Convention in Dallas from November 7th to 9th!
