At last week’s American for the Art’s pre-conference on Public Art and Placemaking, attendees got a sneak peek of the soon-to-be-released Exploring Our Town online resource for creative placemaking.

Jason Schupbach, Director of Design Programs at the National Endowment for the Arts, led a panel discussion titled “An Update on Our Town“, which included an overview of the grant program, a report from two grant recipients, and a sneak peak of the new website. Jay Salinas, Co-Founder & Director of Special Projects at the Wormfarm Institute in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, and Malcolm Cochran, Professor Emeritus of Sculpture at Ohio State University Department of Art, presented their work funded by the Our Town program.

As project leads for Exploring Our Town, GO collaborative has been working with Jason and NEA staff over the past 18 months on this exciting Creative Placemaking project. It was wonderful to have fellow Creative Placemaking practitioners get the first public glimpse. The anticipated release date is early Fall 2014.
